Large Equipment Maintenance Facility – Newman
This mainly Civil services business needed a new facility designed for their Newman property as a base to maintain their earthmoving and truck fleet used throughout the Northwest.
In order to provide a better environment internally we are planning to use a composite colorbond and styrene core panel for walls and roof which will not only provide in built insulation to the external building fabric, spans longer than conventional roof and wall cladding, requiring less sub-structure and framing.
In addition to the building, the owners need to maximise the yard space for large vehicle parking and movement. The property has a four metre drainage easement to the rear and we and the owners have negotiated with the Shire to be able to culvert this over to maintain stormwater discharge whilst gaining use of the four meter easement for parking etc.
As much of the building will be pre-fabricated using standard building material sizes where possible to minimise waste, haulage costs and labour time and costs on site. The project is currently with the Shire of East Pilbara for their assessment and we expect to be documenting this project shortly ready for construction.
